Welcome to Steve’s Super Secret (shhhh!!!) Stash Subscription number 10! As always, this email hitting your inbox means that your next #SSSSS coffee has been roasted, bagged and handed over to Royal Mail to head in your direction : )

Time has flown by this year and we’ve reached October, with 9 coffees down, I hope you’ve enjoyed them as much as I have! Don’t worry though, I’ve got some great coffees still lined up for you, and this month is no exception – this time harking back to near the start, with our February #SSSSS...

You may remember we got to enjoy Nicaragua Finca Limoncillo Pulped Natural Yellow Pacamara Petites way back in February. Now, with the new crop of Central American coffees all here, I thought I’d share another Yellow Pacamara from the same farm, just freshly arrived with us.

Why another Yellow Pacamara you ask? Well, because they’re delicious!! I first tried the Yellow Pacamara from Limoncillo on their cupping table there and was blown away from my first sip. These have been in high demand, but they’re wonderful coffees and every year I’ve fought off other coffee buyers for our share.

Just below is a picture of me and Eleane Mierisch taken on my last visit to Nicaragua, the tree we're posing by is the original Yellow Pacamara tree at Limoncillo where the whole Yellow Pacamara thing started with some oddly coloured coffee cherries spotted by a security guard!

Each year I cup different lots with the Mierisch family, looking for the very best ones for us. And each year the Yellow Pacamara lots stand out like a sore thumb on the cupping table! Yellow fruits and juicy hops sing loud and clear, no matter whether washed, pulped natural or natural processed.

So I look for the ones which sneak a nose ahead of the competition (in a very close race) and I’ve chosen this one for you - Limoncillo Yellow Pacamara Washed. It was so close on the cupping table, I couldn’t actually just choose one though, so look out for a Yellow Pacamara Natural going on the website before Christmas too.

What made this one stand out on the cupping table though? Very distinctive, these coffees always brings a hit of citrus mashed up with hops – specifically New Zealand hops. In this one, there's Kaffir Lime leaf and hops over a juicy fruit sweetness which really stands out for me. That shifts into pink grapefruit, with a lovely silky texture. Unusual, complex, but also very well balanced and sweet.
