My name is Orlando López Osorio, I am 66 years old and live in my farm ¨Los Laurels¨ located in the community Loma Fria, Dipilto Nueva Segovia.

After receiving much training related to the cultivation of coffee, this year I decided to participate in the Cup of the Excellence and I feel proud to be a winner.

My wife Rosa Emilia Sauceda is an expert in coffee and she has participated in the Cup of the Excellence being one of the winners in 2004. She works alongside me with my children who are also producers of coffee among other activities.

The farm is one of the few that is known to be self-sustainable, since we carry out many other production activities such as: herd breeding, pine wood, organic fertilizer from the coffee pulp, and lombricultura. This allows our coffee process production to be free of chemical products.

In 25 hard working years with coffee production we have advanced step by step until reaching a high level of excellence and we will continue in that line in order to produce an organic certified coffee, as well as improving the techniques of processing from the harvest to the wet mill.

Our motivation to participate in this important event was mostly by UCAFE, since they have help us with training and providing follow-up to our coffee quality production.

In the cup expect black cheery with a sweetness, falling into a lush rich winey after taste. The acity is powerful, perhaps too powerful for the espresso machine but perfect for the filter/ french press. In fact filter/ french press coffee a its best.
