Kenya Kirigu 2009-2010

Bean name Kenya Kirigu 2009-2010
Country Kenya

I constantly go on about provenance and tell you stories all about coffee and the farmers who produce it, etc. I explain how important it is for the cup, and how we like to do all our business this way. Well, I'm a series of contradictions; with this one I have nothing by way of detail to share with you at all. All I can tell you is what happened on the cupping table.

We know the name of the coffee: Kenya Kirigu, and we know of its quality. On the table it has a wonderful red wine like acidity. I get a huge great big red blood orange on the front end that develops into a creamy smooth aftertaste. This is one of my favourite Kenyans for a long while, and we have had a series of great Kenyans this year. I cupped this back in June and dismissed it as good, but lacking something. Once again, it just goes to show that once rested Kenyans quite often open up and develop into something special, just as this grew up into a big boy.
