Guatamala El Injerto 2007-2008

Bean name Guatamala El Injerto 2007-2008
Country Guatemala
Region Huehuetenango

Another fond memory returns. This coffee we stocked in the very early days of Has Bean. At the time I knew nothing of reputations or competition coffee, just knew what I liked. And we really liked this coffee, as did you until it began to gather acclaim, and demand, and it all got hovered up by the US market who fall over themselves for this coffee. The farm produces around 300bags per year and that doesn't go a long way.

So desperate to get hold of some again we tried to win some in the Guatemala cup of excellence and were a lot of the reason why this coffee finished the second most expensive coffee in that auction (.15 a lb green FOB) even though it finished sixth this year, but our budget ran out (Stumptown beat us to it).

On our trip to Guatamala we got talking to our importer about the coffee, and also got talking to Christian their Central/ South American coordinator, and it was left they would see what they could do. Well the did what they could and secured a really small lot of this coffee, and I'm pleased

We have some great Guatemalans this year (some would say too many to choose from) but they are all good in there own way. Arturo Auguirre's the current owner has been producing this coffee on this finca (farm) in the Huehuetenango region with care and a 100% quality focus for a number of years. This multi award winning farm produces some of the best coffee in Guatemala and we very pleased to be able to offer it to you. In the cup expect a full body, with a sweet rich after-taste. blasts of butterscotch with a great walnut hint.
