Fazenda Serra dos Crioulos is a farm within a farm. The land is owned by a group of brothers and sisters, who acquired lands around their mother’s farm, where high quality coffee was already grown. Eliane is the wife of one of the brothers who was responsible for selecting this lot for the Cup of Excellence competition. This is not the first time the farm has found success in one of these cupping competitions, having been a finalist of the Cup of Excellence contest in the 2002, 2003, 2006, 2008, 2009, 2010, and 2011 editions, placing 7th and 9th twice.

They also placed 2nd in the first edition of the Cup of Excellence Natural Late Harvest - 2011STATE OF MINAS GERAIS; gained 2nd place in 2005; and placed among the 13 finalists in 2006 ABIC. They also placed 3rd in 2005 Illycaffe; placed 2nd in the 2010/2011 harvest, got 9th place in the 2008/2009 harvest, and came in 10th place for the 2007/2008 harvest.

WOW ! That's some role call.

These results can only be achieved by paying very close care and attention to the work on the farm. A great example of this is the four trips they make a day to the processing area with the day's pickings. This is to ensure no fermentation occurs during the warm sunny days.

Little details like this make amazing coffee.

And amazing coffee it is. It begins being crazy sweet, with a lemon and white sugar start, but develops into red currant with a treacle and toffee mouthfeel and flavour, I'm giving it a Steve Leighton award for tastiness to go with its other accolades.
