The Coffee is sourced from Cyangugu Province of Rwanda. It is grown in a mountainous belt along the shores of the highlands' Lake Kivu which forms the border between Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of Congo. This geographical region is very dynamic with several active volcanoes. It also provides the last living habitat for thee majestic gentle giants, the Mountain Gorillas.

In an effort at economic rejuvenation in the post genocide period, the exclusively small scale growers have been organized in co-operative societies.

The farmers are dedicated to their farms producing coffee on as small plots averaging about 100 trees. The most convenient transport for the cherry is by small dugout boats on Lake Kivu.

All Gorilla Mountain coffee is carefully prepared using the wet processing method. The coffee are processed at SICAF's two washing stations located in the respective co-operative ddistrict. The washing stations are managed by Tropical Farm Management Ltd. to high technical and environmental standards to produce consistent quality.

In the cup, it has a great body with amazing cleanliness and a rich after taste that reminds me of black tea. But it develops into a bold big cup. Great in espresso an in filter.
