||Honduras Sesesmile - Nelson Guerra Cup of Excellence 2009
Another new Cup of Excellence coffee, this time from Honduras. Called 'Sesesmile', this coffee has been a challenge to get here. Our importers have had less than happy experiences of Honduras in the past, so we had to make alternative arrangements to get this coffee out of origin and over here. Despite the extra effort required to import the coffee, as soon as I cupped the sample knew we had to have this one. I just had to get on to it and sort something out. After being lost in Hamburg for a few weeks, then stuck in Kent, UK, for a while, it's now finally here and were very excited.
We bought the whole lot, and although it's a bit of a baby lot at 560kg, that is still a lot of coffee to sell when it is so expensive. As always, we have tried to keep the cost to you down as much as possible and have priced it in a place where we hope it will sell quickly.
This Catuaí is from the Ocotepeque region in the South West of Honduras. Grown at an altitude of 1600m above sea level.
In the cup you get a bright acidity, and a lemon front mixed with jasmine that turns into a bowl of summer fruits with peach, apricot and a great sweetness. Worth the effort to get it here? You bet!
