Description

Right I loved this coffee before. I mean truly blown away with how good it was. My visit in January 2007 made me love it some more as I got to meet the lovely people behind the coffee. Don Roberto and his two brothers have tried to move away from generic commercial coffee and raise the standards of the growing and milling and in the cup you can really tell.

El Bosque is in the municipality of Amatitlán, a few miles from the capital of Guatemala City, overlooking the beautiful lake of the same name. El Bosque is situated on volcanic terrain between 5,000 and 5,500 feet. The farm covers 32 hectares, all dedicated to the cultivation of strictly hard bean Bourbon. Although not an organic coffee no pesticides nor herbicides are used on the farm.

So how does this years differ to last. Its still very very clean, its still got a wicked after taste of spice. I kind of wish I'd given it a 7 last year as its got cleaner. But one place I could reward it was with its sweetness more than last year.

In January the brothers told me how they were separating the lots and really trying to raise the quality. I can say its been worth the extra work, an staple delightful coffee has just got better.
