Guatemala Antigua Santa Clara 2008-2009

Summary

Bean name Guatemala Antigua Santa Clara 2008-2009
Country Guatemala
Region Antigua Valley

Description

Located on the southern slopes of the famous Antigua coffee growing area in Guatemala, on the Volcan de Agua in the Antigua Valley. The coffee grows between 5200 - 6000 ft above sea level, it is sun dried and is a mix of Bourbon, Caturra, Catuahi, Catimor.

The former capital of Guatemala Antigua has a big history in coffee too. For many years it was the darling of the specialty world and its beans fetched a high price based on its name alone. But then it seemed to sit back and was suddenly surpassed by other great Guatemalan regions, just as happened in the Tarrazu region of Costa Rica.

It has been a couple of years since we have found a coffee from the Antigua area that we are happy to stock, so we are very pleased now to be able to offer this great example.

In the cup expect floral aromas and tastes, followed by lively acidity, lemonly and zesty. Incredibly clean and a must for the filter and cafetiere. Good for espresso too.
