Description

Ethiopia the birth place of coffee. For me I love the cup profiles of there coffees diverse high quality and so geared up to the specialty market. But there is always something holding them back. Unlike central and South America I don't think Africa has grasped the real traceability aspect of coffee. Working in a partnership with grower and roaster. I think they have everything else spot on, it's a real shame.

I get loads of emails every week asking me to stock this bean. But so many Harar's are average, boring and for me just not good enough a lot to do with putting the great lots of coffee with very average ones to bland them out and make them go further. Add to this the poor crop from last year its been a tough year for harar. But every now and again something special like this one comes along.

In the cup it's intense with a complex taste of fruit, wine and chocolate. Harar is special but versatile and will suit espresso and filter/ french press. But with its winey and a little wild taste it is an acquired taste, if you like those super clean coffees it may not be for you and I'd say try the yirgacheffe. If you like something a little different then here you go.
