||El Salvador Alaska Bourbon 2011-2012
The coffee is called Finca Alaska and the farm is located just one hour from Santa Ana City on the north west slopes of the Santa Ana volcano, one of the most amazing coffee growing areas in El Salvador. It is owned by Ernesto Mednez, or as we like to call him, Neto. You may remember the name from the amazing and wonderful La Ilusion of the last two years.
This is a coffee that we first saw back in 2007 and I was desperate to have a long-term relationship with the grower, though because of some politics and miscommunication it slipped through our fingers. So instead we bought some La Ilusion from Neto's other farm. Nevertheless, it always felt like there was a piece of the jigsaw missing, and now it is finally complete. This is a European exclusive and we buy the majority of the harvest from this farm. I love this coffee very much and I hope you will too.
It the cup expect to find a lovely caramel sweetness mixed up with a complex and engaging acidity of cassis and molasses with a beautiful black cherry. One of the most amazing coffees I have ever cupped.
