||Colombia Finca La Vega Caturra Washed 2015
Very very happy to see this amazing coffee back for its third year with us but we only have 1 bag (yes 1 single bag!) so once it's gone, it's gone!
In Colombia there's a co-op in Huila in the town of Garzon called Coocentral, it works with the farmers in the area of Tarqui and last year they held an informal competition to find the best coffee from the individual producers. Alexis (the producer of this coffee) was highlighted as one of the stars, and we're really excited to be working with him.
Alexis Guarnizo Trujillo lives on his 1 hectare smallholding near to the village of La Vega with his wife Diana and one daughter Leidy. Like most coffees from Colombia this one is fully washed under water in a big tank for around 15 hours, and then laid out to dry in the sun on a mixture of raised beds and patios. This process takes around 50 hours.
This is a very special coffee by a very special producer, Alexis grows a very limited and small amount of this great coffee so it's a real honour to have got our hands on some for 3 years in a row.
In the cup expect a sweet brown sugar front end, which turns into a malty Horlicks creaminess with an amazing structure and great body. A perfect example of a well processed and well grown Colombian coffee.
Nearest Village: La Vega
