Description

Back for its second year, there is a co-op in Huila in the town of Garzon called Coocentral. It works with the farmers in the area of Tatqui, and last year they held an informal competition to find the best coffee from the individual producers. Alexis, the producer of this coffee, was highlighted as one of the stars, and we're really excited to be working with him

Alexis Guarnizo lives on his 1 hectare smallholding near to the village of La Vega with his wife Diana and one daughte Leidy. He produces around 1000kg of parchment per year (around 10-12 sacks of green coffee), and we have bought nearly half of this. The rest of the coffee wouldn't be passed as micro lot quality and will end up sold off as a lower grade coffee. This makes getting this tiny nano-lot even more impressive.

Like most coffees from Colombia, this one is fully washed under water in a big tank for around 15 hours, and then laid out to dry in the sun on a mixture of raised beds and patios. This process takes around 50 hours.

This is a very special coffee by a very special producer, who grows a very limited and small amount of this great coffee. In the cup expect a sweet brown sugar front end, which turns into a malty Horlicks creaminess with an amazing structure and great body. A perfect example of a well processed, well grown, Colombian coffee.

Roasting Information This is a medium so as not to kill the complexity.
