||Burundi Nemba Washed Red Bourbon 2017
||Varietal: Red Bourbon
We always search really hard to find delicious coffee from Burundi and it eluded us for a little while, but over the past few years we feel like we've really delivered Burundian deliciousness. For years samples of Burundian coffee would arrive, and we were just not happy with the quality. I knew great Burundi coffees – like this one – existed, because I had tasted them from other roasters, but we just couldn't find the coffee for us, but that drought is thoroughly over!
Unfortunately this delicious coffee comes to you with not very much information, from time to time we'll cup a sample and be wowed by it's tastiness but then when we go searching for more information about the coffee there's not too much to be found, this coffee is 1 of those.
What I can tell you is that it's from the Nemba washing station in the Kayanza province of northern Burundi, the mill is run by Fabien Nyambere and it sits at an altitude of 1,893 metres above sea level.
The washing station was built in the early nineties and it collects the cherries from a whopping 1,291 micro plantations that are located around the station on the high altitude hills close to the Congo-Nile Crest.
In the cup this is a super clean coffee that starts out with white grape and white sugar before turning into liquid green Wine Gums.
