Description

This is a tiny lot, 20kg in total, and when its gone its gone. We were given the opportunity to take this tiny micro lot from one of the largest coffee farms on the planet.

Ipanema has been producing coffee since the 1970s and is certainly one of the largest farms we buy from. Total annual production at Ipanema even exceeds the annual production of several of the smaller producing countries, and produces an awful lot of coffee that we would not buy. But even in this huge ocean of coffee, quality and uniqueness is possible. This juxtaposition of size made us super interested, but only after the blind cupping table brought it to our attention.

Not surprisingly, Ipanema is one of the largest employers in the area and offers around 2,000 jobs during the peak harvest time in addition to its 300 regular jobs. The workers enjoy many benefits such as free distribution of soy milk, food staples, medical plan, transportation and lodging.
From the sul de minas region of Brazil, its size is replicated from its altitude range of 850 -1350 metres.

But most importantly in the cup this coffee is superb.expect a lovely red apple sweetness and acidity, whilst being juicy and crisp. With an aftertaste of molasses this coffee is a real gem of a nano lot.
