||Bolivia Flor de Mayo Pedro Castro Conurana
||Cup of Excellence
I was lucky enough to be part of the international jury for this year's Bolivian cup of excellence competition. This is the second time I've been part of the jury, attending the last one in 2005. This time it was held in Coroico, just outside La Paz.
The standard of the coffee was very, very high, but as always I fell in love with coffees outside of the top ten. This one finished number 20 and we bought it in partnership with another UK roaster. Don't let the position it finishes fool you, these are all great coffees and this one deserved to finish much higher.
In the cup expect a fudge sweetness with a sparkling apple juice acidity that lingers in the aftertaste. One thing that struck me about all the Bolivian's is the body and the natural sweetness that seems so common. Great espresso coffee.
